Ok, now that everyone is pumped, let's talk about how hard blogging is!
I really have to sit down and concentrate on typing these things out. I constantly have things running through my head all day but at the end of the day, my head is blank!
There are so many things I want to share, discuss, word vom all over the place...hmmm...
So lets recap the week so far.
Red head is away for work this week so Monday night was GREAT. I came home from the gym, made myself some dinner, poured a giganto (my spell check is so confused) glass of wine and watched Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. SUCH a good movie; Emily Blunt is one of my all time favo fave actresses. I also whipped up this little beauty: BAM! Lately, I have been obsessed with putting veggies under the broiler. Monday night I roasted some green cabbage with lemon pepper under the broiler. For some reason, the broiler brings out these oils from the cabbage. It also "crisps" with the lemon pepper. No more than 5 minutes though or I feel like it will get a little wilty (spell check suggested Willyt. This is a chicken place in Mississippi).
Tuesday, was a complete BUST. Work stuff.
Tonight, is all Patty and the Real House wives of Bev Hills. ::sigh::
Who is ready for the Super Bowl? and when I say Super Bowl, I mean PUPPY BOWL!!!
A little FF for ya... I am obsessed with Millionaire Matchmaker
I wanna meet Patti.
Bad.
And then I want her to criticize me.
Constructively.
Ok. So Saturday was an off day because "someone" had a little too much fun on date night which meant not getting out of bed til 12:30
Friday night started off with some dinner, Phantoms Hockey game, some live music at a bar and THIS
The beginning (or the end) of my demise... Crown Royal Maple will rock your socks.
Your head the next morning.
Saturday consisted of a little house hunting. Red head and I totally did not plan on this but last week a house down the block from our apt building had an open house. Out of curiosity to see what our neighbors house looked like on the inside, we wandered on over. The lady that showed us the house emailed us afterwards with a list of houses that were really cute, in our price range and pretty much exactly what we were looking for. We looked at a few houses during the summer but nothing really struck our fancy. Until Meow.
So we ran a bunch of errands, looked at houses and finished the night with movies.
So domesticated.
Ugh.
This morning consisted of 5 miles on the treadmill and a two hour spin class.
And now I am going on a Millionaire Matchmaker Marathon.
Work this week has been crazaayy. I am still doing my job and payrolls job so needless to say its been long work hours with lots of take home work.
Just to get you caught up:
Saturday: 8 miles
Sunday: Lift and spin class
Monday: Body pump, spin and abs
Tuesday: 4 miles, shoulder circuit and spin
Wednesday: Body pump and cross fit
Thursday: 4.5 miles, tricep circuit and spin
Kind of been following my training schedule but not really...
It has been so cold here, I cannot bring myself to run outside for long period nor run on the treadmill. I LOATHE the treadmill. I think I have said this before...
On a somewhat similar note but kinda not really... I found my new fave running song
"Magdalena" by Sergio Mendes
It makes me feel like a cheetah running through the Sahara dessert.
Despite this being a Latin song...
I am pretty super excited for tomorrow:
1. It's FRIDAY
2. Date night with the red head- dinner and a hockey game! Whoo!
You ever see something and your immediate response is "REALLY?" but not like yelling "really" but more like a sarcastic, unbelievable, drawn out "reallllyyy?"
Few of those this week:
1. Stallone's new movie (really?)
2. Duke's horrific game to Miami (realllyyy?)
3. Serena Williams and Sharapova out of the Australian Open (Ok, Really??)
4. Frank Gore fined $10,000 for his socks being down (really??)
5. It is estimated that 1.23 billion chicken wings will be consumed on Super Bowl Sunday (ew)
It is officially 9:15 am and I have yet to make any kind of movement...whaaaat?
Normally, I am up and out the door no later than 8 am but I decided to be lazy this morning. Plus, it is 38 degrees outside. I really would like to get a run outside so I am waiting til it warms up to today's high of 40 degrees. Yaaayy...
Wednesday's cross fit work out was craze-ay.
After each 20, you had to sprint 200 meters. I have never, ever done a wall walk up and I was exited that I completed twice!
I was completely done-zo afterwards but it was awesome to complete.
And then red head treated me to a beer and dinner :)
Thursday, 4 miles on the elliptical, dirty-30's tricep lift, Pinterest abs and spin.
Friday- Body pump in the morning and then quickly jetted off to Cleveland for a training.
I LOVE Cleveland. It is a small/big city meaning there is this giant city with very little people in it!
HA!
That would be the economy for ya BUT Cleveland is really working on building things back up. The best thing about Cleveland is the FOOD. So, so so, so many good places to eat.
My favorite place in Cleveland is the warehouse district. One of those places is called Saigon
Spring Roll appetizer. Yes, I ordered an appetizer for one. The lady brought me a box with my meal thinking I would need to take some home with me. Um no lady! I make Happy Plates!
Shrimp Vermicelli with spicy peanut sauce! Nummerzz!!
The best part about going to Cleveland is the drive home. Why you ask?? Because I drive right by a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods!!
I pulled in quite a haul last night.
Alcohol Haul:
Lagunitas Sucks, Shiner 966, Bison Gingerbread Beer, Blue Moon Valencia Grove,
Charles Shaw Blanc, Harthill Farms Cab, Green Fin White Table Wine (I actually bought this as a gift for someone! Ssshh! Don't tell!!)
Trader Joe's Vintage Ale (Got this for the red head. All other above beers are MINE) I am like Joey from Friends; I don't share food OR beer.
Snack Haul:
Pop cakes, Dark Chocolate covered espresso beans, Kale Chips (They were 99 cents!)
Ran my 4 miles today...on the elliptical. My legs were feeling heavy after last nights spin.
Did some Pinterest abs. and shared it with a girl at the gym! She was impressed by my side planks...
Red head created our lifting routine today. I was a little skeptical today when he said he came up with our workout for the day but it turned out to be really good! We super set four sets of three lifts with 10 reps of each. It went a little something like this:
First set (do this four times without a break between sets)
Bench press @ 10 reps
Upright row @ 10 reps
Leg extension @ 10 reps
Second set (again, do four times without a break between sets)
Push reps @ 10 reps
Lat pull down @ 10 reps
Leg press @ 10 reps
Third set (same as before)
Cable cross @ 10 reps
Warrior lawn mowers (lawn mowers while in the plank position) @ 10 reps
Calf raises @ 10 reps
And you are done! Only took us thirty minutes but we were breathing hard when we were done so I said it was "OK" that we went home early.
I officially booked my plane tickets for ZOOMA today. I will be in Austin March 21st thru the 25th. I am getting really excited for this race because I really really really want to set a new PR. PLUS I love Texas! and Austin! And, hopefully, fingers crossed, I get to see my lovely lady friends. It also got me really excited about booking my races for the rest of the year. I know I want to run Cleveland (my "go to" race) and I want to run something in/near Baltimore.
OK. Time for more fun facts:
1. My all time favorite show it No Reservations
2. Second all time favorite show is Man vs Food. I think if I ever met Adam Richmond, I would give him a really long hug. I don't know why. He just looks really huggable.
3. My all time favorite gum is Extra Mint Chocolate Chip gum. I chew this is mass quantities
My purse is literally littered with gum wrappers of this gum.
OK this post needs more pics of me!
And more!
Yes, I am in the bathroom. At the tanning salon. And proud of my outfit. That I created all by myself. And Pinterest. I am extremely self absorbed.
Body pump; struggled
300 abs part 2; sloppy
Spin; Meh
Today was more mentally exhausting than physically. Everything just felt harder. I was not mentally into my workouts and work felt like...well... work. I just felt on edge and irritated most of the day.
I don't even feel passionate about this post! YELP!
O wait a minute.I know what is going on here. If you have not guessed it from all the signs; tired, irritable and massive, massive chocolate cravings.
Aunt flow! Monthly gift! Skinning of the ovaries! (Wait, what did she just say??)
So I want to start reviewing some of my favorite beer with you guys but I feel like I need to create a consistent and "professional-esq" rating scale.
So before I create that, I will leave you latest drink fave-o-faves:
One of my favorite holidays beers but there are many more that top this one. I just happen to really like Shiner Bock. I had it for the first time 2 years back in Austin, TX. The bar was actually giving them away for free! Apparently in Texas they regard Shiner Bock like PA regards Busch Light. I like the Shineer Cheer because it is actually a bavarian wheat. Most holiday beers tend to be heavy stouts or porters (my fave) or a spiced lager (Yummm). It is also a holiday beer that I can drink more than one of unlike Brekenridge's Christmas Ale (Another one of my favorite holiday beers and breweries. I have literally never tried anything bad by Brekendridge. Literally) Not a holiday beer nor a craft beer. BUT I enjoy drinking, In mass quantities.
My absolutely new favorite drink; Crown Royal Maple and soda water. I could pound this all day. And then I would be dead.
I also recently tried a new pairing with whiskey; peach schnapps. I know right?! Who would-a thunk it? The bartender at Georgia City Light's, that is who. Genius.
In my last post, I mentioned the Beer Bourbon and Bar b Que Festival in June. We went there last year with these amazing people:
And saw this amazing sight:
Needless to say, our plans are to return again this year.
Boot camp. Spin. 3 miles. Laundry. Almost went tanning!
Darn. So close!
Cooked up some delicious dinner with the red head. Pork tenderloin on the grill; grilled asparagus; side salad; faux mashed potatoes.
I always see pinterest pins of the caulflower mashed potatoes so I wanted to try them out. I didnt have a whole head of fresh cauliflower so I used frozen.
The verdict: not bad.
Red head even ate them and said they were "not too bad"
The taste was pretty good. I used a lot of garlic and oregano and blended in milk and greek yogurt to "fluff" them up. I think the consistency is what makes them good but not great. Its more like fluffy, mushy rice..
Yum?
Anyone try a pinterest recipe for the first time recently? What was your outcome? ?
I am dumping almost an entire week in one blog entry on you. Right meow.
Tuesday- Training schedule called for 4 miles. Done. And then two more miles. And then Power Pump.
Boom.
O and then all-you-can-eat wing buffet.
Whoops!
Wednesday- Body pump and cross fit.
Training schedule called for 3 miles but I never got to it. Training schedule fail.
Thursday- 50 min on the elliptical. Shoulder and chest lift. Spin.
Friday-Body pump.
Dinner with the red heads Mom, Dad, Aunt and Uncle.
Saturday- 7 miles run with some really cool ladies
Target Shopping extravaganza
Night out with friends
Sunday-Write a terrible blog post. Hope no one notices I failed on my training schedule Wednesday through Friday
It was really tough to blog all week because by the time I got off work, home from the gym, got ready for work the next day and THEN finish my work that I brought home from work, it has been close to 11 pm. Being the old lady that I am, this is not conducive to me blogging/brain functioning to type words on a screen.
PHONE DUMP!
Saturday Night Out
Target Dollar Aisle!!
Meat Rub with ancient, secret ingredient.
Brew it. Pork It. Drink it, Our destination for June 2013.
Ok, no I did not wear moccasins today because it is a whee bit snowy out BUT there was a while that I found myself always wearing moccasins. On Mondays. During the warmer temps.
Body pump this morning was tough. I had to really, really convince myself to go.
Work consisted of 8.25 hours of sitting behind a calculator. Exciting stuff here people.
Lots of static electricity. My hair definitely does not look the same when the lady at the salon did it. Hmmm. Why does that always happen? I swear I did the same thing she did. It's like she went to beauty school or something...
After work, the bones needed to move so I went to spin and did my 300 ab workout I found on Pinterest.
I also found some really cool blogs through Pinterest just by following some fashion pins. I am pretty excited to see there are a lot of tall women out there with some great styling ideas. Now I just need someone to create a fashion blog I can follow for tall women who live in very snowy, cold weather with very little expendable shopping money and only wants to wear pants and large sweaters everyday. Annnnnd GO!
I had some work I had to finish up at home so I whipped up this little beauty:
I whip up some pretty amazing salads. If I do say so myself. And I do! I really do!
Grilled chicken. Mango cilantro salsa. Lots of veggies. AND there is corn tortilla hidden underneath all the goodness. I like to put my bread underneath my salad so it gets soaked with all the delicious goodness on top of it. O! and Franks Red Hot. I love hot sauce. Possibly more than mustard. AND it belongs on everything.
Lately, I have been craving Yuengling Light. I had one recently on New Years and it is quite tasty. I believe I will sip on one of those while watching Bama lay down the law.
Kyle's beer coozie. This literally explains last night. And it was amazing.
Bunch of boys. With forks. Standing around a smoker. And O yea, there was a lot of beer.
Last night, we went to dinner with one of our couple friends where I mentioned in our previous post there was a big discussion on craft beers. So much discussion, that they ran out the next day and brought us another bottle of this:
BAM.
And a bag of this. Which they swear by. So much, that they store pounds of it in their freezer.
And they are absolutely correct. It is quite delicious.
Just a smattering of the beers we sampled last night:
We have been hoarding our last Hoppin' Frog but we busted it out because last nights company was SUPER special. And they brought us bacon beer. C'MON!
Despite last nights major carbo load, this mornings workout was pretty simple.
3 miles around the park and then an hour spin class at the gym.
After spin, we went over to the red head's families for a final holiday party.
